The Bonfire Memorial
One pillar for every one that lost their lives that night.
The Birthday Boys :)
The baby's name "Baby Tipps," at least, until she is born.
Erin, Mindi, and I
Here is another whirlwind blog because things just keep getting crazy and I can't get on to post :)
Jared and I took off on a weekend getaway over the Martin Luther King weekend. We both had a three day weekend and thought we would make the most of it. I pushed a little and convinced him to take me back to Aggieland. Longhorn or not, Jared met me there, so I hope it is a special place for him :) However, he is right about one thing....On our way home he said "Okay, next time we pick somewhere to go get away to, we have to go somewhere where you do not know anyone if we want to spend any time together .":) Bless his heart, we did spend quite a bit of time catching up with good friends and visiting with people. He enjoyed that part, but it really didn't make for a "romantic weekend getaway."
Let me just say...I love AGGIELAND. I don't care who out there thinks Aggies are "cult like," and a little weird at times with our yells and comraderie, there is no place like it on earth! And I can honestly say, it truly feels like home when I am back there. One thing we got to go do is visit the Bonfire Memorial. To me, the Memorial symbolizes much more than remembrance of those that lost their lives that night. It symbolizes the Aggie traditions of love, respect, community, support, and honor. I love Aggieland!
The following weekend, we went to Houston to see my sister, attend the wedding of a dear friend of ours, Darryl Parsons, and see some special Aggie friends, Gregg and Erin Johnson. Unfortunatly, I forgot my camera, so I couldn't get any good memories captured. However, we left there knowing we needed to go back more often. And in saying that, I have to say this one cheesy thing, mostly because I am me, and you know I am a cheese ball, but partly because it's on my heart and I need to say it.......Life is TOO short! Do not allow yourself to lose touch with those dearest to your heart. Life is BUSY, boy do I know that, but take the time, travel, go see people when you can. I strongly believe this life is about the Lord, love and FELLOWSHIP. Do as much of it as you possibly can. (This is said more for me than anyone.)
When we came home that Sunday, we were informed that we needed to be at Sammy and Laptop's birthday party Monday evening. And yes, Sammy and Laptop are dogs. So my whole family gathers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins (coming from the city too), and we watch them open their piles of presents. Could we get more ridiculous? It was really cute, though, and fun to have an excuse to get together, as if this family needed one! :)
And last, but not at all the least, last Sunday I got to go to a baby shower of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Mindi Tipps. And I don't say oldest as in age, just one of my dearest girlfriends that I have known the longest. And let me tell you, this woman is one of the most beautiful pregnant women I have ever seen! It is really special to see a friend right before she becomes a mother, and I can hardly wait for the day I get to see that angel in her arms. And there is nothing like showers bringing people together. I got to see Erin again and her sister Dana, and Julie (my cousin's wife) was there as well. Like I said, special times :)
As for you, whoever reads this anymore :) .......... We love you and hope that you are well and having a great year thus far!
